Success Coaching & EFT Tip and Tap for Today: Releasing the "Hard Work” from Your Dreams and Success

I think part of what drew me to the work that I do is that I am innately curious about people. I find people and their stories intriguing and I love to listen to what others have to say. People will share a great deal if asked, and I find that word choices can be indicators of feelings and beliefs that lie outside of someone’s direct awareness. The way we describe our lives can be very telling as to what blocks us from accessing our easy and destined success.

This week, there was a particular word that seemed to be in everyone’s vernacular. The word was “hard”. In the office, I noticed for several days in a row the idea that “things were hard” kept coming up. Because the theme was so evident in all of my coaching conversations, I took my “listening” the larger context of my world. WOW. “It being hard” is everywhere….all the time.

Here is a quick sampling of some of the ways I heard “how hard it is”....
“Work is hard”
“Weight loss is hard”
“Marriage is hard”
“Parenting is hard”
“Reaching my goals is always hard”
“It’s hard to make money”  and “It’s hard to save money”  and “It’s too hard to get out of debt”
“Success is hard”
“Life is hard”
“Grief is hard”
“Sales is hard” and/or “Selling myself is hard”
“It’s hard to get what I want”

As I said, our word choices speak to how we feel about ourselves and our experiences. The words that we use can be indicators of feelings, beliefs and patterns of interacting with this world. As you read this, what resonates with you? How often do you use the word “hard” to describe parts of your life?  Given the volume of how often I heard it in the last 7 days, I am guessing there is at least one aspect of your life (or more?!?) that you describe as “hard”.

Our perception of reality is influenced by our thoughts, feelings and beliefs...both conscious and unconscious. How well we achieve our goals is based on our ability to act towards our goals.  Our action - and - our inaction - gets motivated through our perception.  So, if you want something but you believe it is “hard”; every time you think of the goal, you are associating it with the meaning of "hard"  Your goal and the meaning of "hard" are connected through conditioning.

How inspired are we to move towards something that we associate with being arduous, fatiguing and requiring a great deal of effort?

We are not...which explains why we sabotage, resist, and avoid.  How frustrating!

A common example of this is weight-loss. As a veteran in the fitness industry, I worked with hundreds of people on weight-loss goals. Very few people I’ve met believe weight loss to be easy. In fact, almost everyone I have met holds the belief that “weight loss is hard”. People who want to lose weight but believe it is “hard” often lose motivation quickly (because it’s too hard), act in ways that don’t support their weight loss (because it’s hard) and will often lose the weight and regain it quickly (remember...it is hard!). This becomes a vicious cycle of "hard reinforcement". The cycle of “weight loss being hard” creates evidence "that it is hard” which reinforces “how hard it is”.

As a Success Coach and EFT Tapping Specialist, it is my job to help clients in their goal setting and achieving. In order to successfully achieve goals, we must be emotionally aligned and excited about the goal. Our thoughts, beliefs and feelings need to resonate with the action steps to get to the goal.  We must believe that the work we do will feel satisfying and come with some ease. In order to believe all of this wholeheartedly, we must eliminate the parts of us (beliefs, feelings and thoughts) that still think that “it is hard”.

The beauty of using EFT in Success Coaching is that we are able to systematically dismantle the limited beliefs you have about achieving your dreams. EFT helps us relax into our goal. When we’re relaxed, action comes easy.  When action comes easy, we feel more empowered and we make progress quickly.  How fun!

This blog and each blog that will follow will allow you, the reader, to experience the benefits of Success Coaching with EFT. Because I believe so deeply in the power of this work, I have created this blog space for you to be able to experience how universal many of our obstacles are.  As you read and participate in the Success Coaching Tapping Audio, listen deeply to yourself and think about your experiences with others.  Can you recognize how common it is that "we think 'things' are hard?" We are not alone in our struggles.  My goal is to help you feel less alone and provide you with a free tool that you can personalize inside such a universal struggle.

Please use the audio below to help you release “the hard” from your goal setting. Find detailed instructions below on how to personalize it.  Please reference the Tapping Points PDF, along with the audio to create success with ease...one Tap at a Time!
It is understood that you have read, understood, and agreed to the waiver prior to taking part in EFT or EFT audios.

Here’s how to best use this audio:
  • Choose a goal you would like to achieve
  1. Investigate whether you think it is easy or hard
  2. Write the goal down in the following statement  “I think _____________ is hard”  (for example:  “I think weight loss is hard”)
  3. Rate “how hard” you think the goal is on a scale of 0-10 (10 being most true)
  4. Use the Tapping Audio and Tapping Points PDF to release the belief in the goal being hard
  5. Stick with one goal at a time (i.e. if you think weight loss is hard and getting out of debt is hard, do the Tapping Audio at separate times)
  6. Track your progress by re-evaluating your rating (#4).  Get as close to 0 as possible, repeating the audio several times or for several days in a row.  The more the better!
  7. Notice how naturally you develop new ideas and inspiration on how to act toward the goal that feel authentic and easy.
  8. Congratulate yourself for releasing yourself from old, outdated, unproductive beliefs!
  9. Ask for one-on-one help if you are ready for fast tracking your goal setting. A few one-on-one sessions can help eradicate obstacles quickly and succinctly so you make fast progress!
