Resolutions:  Resolved or Resistant?

As the New Year approaches and you set your sights high for an abundant 2017, I ask you to consider your relationship with your goals.  Are you feeling resolved in achieving them or are you resistant?

In my method of coaching, this critical question helps the client and I determine how quickly and effectively they will reach their aims.  When an individual is resolved, the process is filled with steady action and one is able to move along with focus and confidence.  When one is resistant, they often face challenges, set-backs, self-sabotage, and inconsistency with their action steps.  Because resistance plays such a big part of one’s ability to obtain success, I wanted to provide you with some tips on discovering your resolve-resistance ratio as well as provide you with an EFT Tapping Audio that can help you reduce your resistance so that 2017 will be filled with delightful manifestations of your greatness!

To understand whether we are moving with determination (resolve) or blocking our efforts (resistance), we look to the mind-body-energy system for cues.  Both resistance and resolve are made clear as we investigate these aspects of ourselves.  The mind thinks about our goals and it is also the storehouse of our conscious and unconscious beliefs about our abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.  Our energy is our emotional body; the vital place of our being where we emotionally enable our goals (by being enthusiastic and confident, for example) or we sabotage our goals (by fearing failure or feeling apprehension about our abilities).  And finally, our physical body which is the instrument through which we experience the world.  Our bodies are the interface between our inner landscape and our outer landscape.  Our bodies respond to our thoughts and our feelings, creating chemical reactions that instigate anxiety or relaxation.  Your body “tells the story” of your resistance through butterflies in your stomach, a tight chest, stiff shoulders, or a furrowed brow.  Alternatively, when you are relaxed (resolved), you feel ease and flow throughout your body, translating to a flexible and composed disposition as you traverse towards your goals.

By evaluating resolved versus resistant, we are asking to review all parts of ourselves.  When we look to the mind-body-energy system, we can break down aspects of ourselves and see that which is either in harmony or in opposition to our goals. Any aspect of ourselves that are not aligned or supporting our goals (be it thoughts or feelings or behaviors) represent resistance in our system.  Resistance will block, deter and delay us from creating all that we desire!

So why not clear it???


An easy and quick way to remedy resistance is to use EFT Tapping!  

With my proven methodology, we set goals and then evaluate all parts of you that are resistant versus resolved by reviewing the mind-body-energy system.  To help, first identify all aspects of you that are aligned with your goals! We want to highlight the strengths and capacities you have.  We want to reinforce all that is serving you in your goal setting.

The second part of our evaluation is to identify aspects of your sytem that might be resistant to your objectives.  Here is a starter list for you to use.  I hope this helps you identify what type of resistance you are holding in your system.  What comes from this list will be what you clear from your system with the EFT Audio provided at the end of this blog:

  • Thoughts:  Do you think you are able to achieve this goal?  Do you think it will be hard?  Will it be easy?  Do you praise yourself often?  Do you “talk down” to yourself or criticize yourself?  Do you remind yourself of times you did not create success or achieve a goal?
  • Beliefs:  Do you believe that you are capable of doing what is necessary to achieve this goal (work for it, leave something behind, break a habit)?  Do you believe you have the patience and fortitude to endure the process?  Do you believe that you are disciplined enough? organized enough? strong enough?
  • Feelings:  What feelings arise in you thinking about all aspects of your goal?  Do you fear failure?  Do you fear success?  Do you hold self-doubt?  Are you patient, impatient?  Do you concern yourself with what others think?   
  • Body:  Do you feel good when you think about the process of achieving your goal?  Do you feel enthusiastic?  Energized?  Or do you feel sick/nauseous/anxious/concerned?  Where does your body speak this to you?
  • Past history with goals:  Have you tried this goal before?  What happened?  Why didn’t you achieve it?  (check in with patience, sabotage, disinterest, inconsistency)

Any negative responses in the mind-body-energy system are considered resistance to your goals!  Being resistant does not mean you can’t reach your goals, but it does make for a challenging road!  Why make it hard when it can be easy?  

Creating success can be joyful.  Reaching goals can be focused and fun!  Try being “one” with the process by releasing resistance.  By letting go of your resistance, you will have greater confidence in yourself and your abilities.  With less resistance and more resolve, you will feel exuberant and open.  You will have faith in the accumulation of your efforts and you will feel proud of yourself!  

In order to help you reach your goals with ease in 2017, I have attached the following audio on RELEASING RESISTANCE.
Here are my suggestions to make this audio most successful:

  • Make a list of your goals
  • Review the mind-body-energy system for cues of resistance
  • List up to 3 ways that you hold resistance in your mind-body-energy for each goal
  • Use the audio for ONE goal at a time
  • Keep a journal of your work and as you Tap on ONE goal at a time, make notes about your process (you will appreciate your progress and strengths...which enable more ease and fun!).
